The Giant Gnome – British Columbia, Canada
This massive gnome cache in British Columbia is one of the quirkiest landmarks we have stumbled upon. Towering over visitors, this gnome was a must-see for any geocacher passing through. Although it’s been archived, it remains a favorite for its sheer size and fun factor.
The funniest part of doing this cache was when we decrypted the clue. It said, “Grope the Gnome.” We were not expecting to find a cache container inside the giant gnome’s crotch. LOL
The size of the giant gnome is so surprising. Daniel is 6’5 and even he does not compare in size to this massive roadside attraction.
VB Spider in a Spout – Van Buren, Arkansas
Close to home, this cleverly hidden cache in Van Buren brought a bit of a scare with it! Known as the Spider in a Spout, it played on one of nature’s creepy creatures in an unexpected location. It may have been archived, but this cache is still a favorite for its unique twist.
The key to this one was to “walk the spider out.” The trick was to use the spider legs, or the nails in the cache container, to make the actual cache container (or spider) pop up and out of the spout (where the cache was located).
In fact, Puzzle caches are some of our favorites to find because of how creative the cache designers can be.
Magic of the Music – Key West, Florida
Located in vibrant Key West, Magic of the Music perfectly captured the island vibe. This cache took us to a special spot where local culture and music merged, making it a true gem of our caching adventures. It’s no longer active.
This one was found inside a seaside bar. The cache container is inside a hanging canoe. For sure one of the most unique hiding spots we have encountered.
(KPL) Travel Bug Exchange – Hawaii
Our geocaching travels wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Hawaii, where the KPL Travel Bug Exchange brought the community together. The cache overflowed with trackables and stories from around the world, immersing us in an experience that connected us with fellow geocachers near and far. Now archived, this one holds a special place in our hearts.
Discovering Arkansas State Park Caches: The Ultimate Adventure
For geocachers in Arkansas, the state parks offer an incredible adventure with an official “ParkCache” program across all 52 state parks. Each park is home to a unique geocache that highlights the area’s natural beauty and history and provides clues that lead to a special 53rd cache. Avid cachers can find this final cache only by piecing together clues from each park’s individual cache, making for an exciting challenge. Ultimately, this statewide treasure hunt is the perfect way to explore Arkansas’s diverse landscapes. You will uncover hidden gems along the way.
