Are All Ripley’s the Same? Ripley’s Grand Prairie, TX
You might ask, “are all Ripley’s the same?” The answer is “no!”
We had such a fun a time at Ripley’s the last time we went we decided to try another location. Ripley’s Grand Prairie is quite different. Its lavish exterior design looks like the Taj Mahal, and the exhibits inside are nothing short of spectacular.
This Ripley’s location has Louis Tussaud’s Wax Museum, a 7D Moving Theater, and a Mirror Maze that set it apart from the other locations. It also has the classic exhibits such as the Ripley’s Oddities Museum, a laser maze, an outdoor art garden, and a unique gift shop.

Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks Museum
Celebrity Showcase
The wax museum houses several different organized sections of figures. Some of the sections contain interactive props that you can use for taking pictures. In the celebrity section you can be a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, try out an “egg chair” with the MIB, or even hang backstage with Johnny Depp.
Historical Figures and Events
The wax museum has many different sections. One room has every single US President standing in order with our current one being featured at the end. The room is very large, and the figures are very lifelike.
Another room displays prominent figures in history and historical events. Here you can listen to Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I have a dream” speech or see the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The Life of Christ
One of most interesting sections of the wax museum, that we feel really sets this location apart, is the “Life of Christ.” We found it quite refreshing for a public business to not be censored and still be allowed to keep Christ in their display.
The Life of Christ scene spans over multiple rooms in the museum. It begins with the Nativity and highlights important moments in the life of Jesus Christ which lead up to his death and resurrection. You can read about the significance of each moment on wall plaques as you walk through. The lighting and staging of the wax figures really set the mood for each scene and show his life story in detail.
This is an excellent exhibit to see during the Easter season. It is appropriate for families and church groups to visit.
7D Moving Theater
The 7D Moving Theater is similar to immersing yourself into a video game or virtual reality. They have two shows to choose from and they may play them during different days and times. The day we were there we were put into a Zombie Carnival game.
Once you strap into the chairs, you put on 3D glasses, and pull out the gaming guns. The chairs move and vibrate so it is important to secure your seatbelt before participating in this attraction.
After a short briefing on your mission you can begin to play. Our mission was to shoot all the zombies and avoid the spectators at the carnival. Points are given for direct hits and points are deducted for casualties. The person with the most points wins.
Mirror Maze
The enchanted mirror maze, an indoor labyrinth, embellished with LED lights and infinity mirrors is sure to have you lost for a while.
