A Review of the American Girl Bistro

The American Girl Dolls were originally made in 1986 because the founder, Pleasant Rowland, believed that aspirational characters could inspire girls to make their own positive mark on the world
The franchise has sky rocketed and now has its own stores, around the US and Canada. The stores are not just any store, but instead have a salon, bistro, and tea room in addition to the general merchandise section.
The American Girl Bistro has a full lunch experience, a la cart menu items, and also a tea time. In this post you will learn a little about what the lunch experience has to offer so you can decide how to plan your next trip to an American Girl Doll Store.
American Girl Bistro Full Lunch Experience
The lunch experience is a preset menu with limited choices, but has more than one course in the meal.
Warm Welcome
Each table begins with the Warm Welcome which consists of mini cinnamon rolls.
The First Course
The first course consists of three doll sized appetizers such as yogurt with berries, warm pretzel bites with mustard sauce, and spinach dip with pita chips.
Morgan prefers the yogurt with berries and I prefer the spinach dip.
Marvelous Main Course
The second course or main course are kid sized entrees. You can choose from macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, perfect pizza, avocado chicken BLT salad, or an AG cheeseburger.
Dessert
The preset dessert menu has a Chocolate Mousse Flowerpot, or you can choose a different dessert (for an additional fee) such as double chocolate layer cake, scrumptious rainbow cake, or a cotton candy milkshake.
Final Thoughts
The cost of the lunch experience is $25 per person, plus tax and gratuity. We think that it is a fun experience for your child to enjoy with his/her doll. The quality of the food was pretty good, but the portions were small (literally doll sized). If you have a big eater in your family, he or she might not get full.
The service was quite slow on the day we were there and we did not have any drink refills until we went to the front and asked for one. I think they were short staffed the day we were there and this may not happen regularly.
We did have a few cute things to take home from our meal. These items included hair ties that were the napkin rings, flowers from the dessert, a doll sized tea cup, and a doll sized plate.
All in all we recommend the American Girl Doll Bistro full lunch experience. You and your doll will have a fun lunch time eating together in the bistro.
