A Review of a Unique Restaurant: Mythos
The unique restaurant, Mythos, resides in the Lost Continent area of Universal’s Islands of Adventure. With its’ massive rock facing and cascading waterfalls you know you are in for a unique restaurant experience. The restaurant features a mixture of Mediterranean, Asian, and American cuisine. It is casually elegant and has a separate kids’ menu.Â
Reservations are encouraged, but not required. It is a full sit-down restaurant and the Universal Full Dining Plan is accepted at this location. Mythos is open for Lunch and Dinner daily.
Safety protocols in place included hand sanitizer upon entry, plexiglass petitions between the booths, and a contactless menu.
Unique Restaurant Atmosphere
Although it is designed mainly for adults, Morgan enjoyed eating here. I think she was more mesmerized by the atmosphere than the food itself. She spent most of the time looking at the waterfall covered window behind her and watching the people walk by outside.
The rock work structure from outside carried over into the décor of the inside. We almost felt like we were in the city of Atlantis. It is perfect for a romantic dinner for two or a nice family lunch. There is also seating outside which has views of the water and the new Velocicoaster.
The waiter was very attentive and helpful with his suggestions for ordering.
Starters
Mythos features some incredibly unique items on the appetizer menu. Calamari, Mediterranean octopus salad, and lamb meatballs are just a few of the items on the menu. We had the Spanakopita Dip. It is a mixture of spinach, feta cheese, herbs, and lemon served with seasoned hot pita chips. We highly recommend this appetizer. The pita chips were soft and warm. Even Morgan liked the chips and dip.
Unique Restaurant Entrees
Gnocchi Bolognese Fork, Knife, and Spoon Grilled Cheese
Some of the entrees found at Mythos include Butternut Squash Ravioli, Beef Loin Medallions, Pad Thai, and a Balsamic Chicken Sandwich. The complete menu can be found here.
I enjoyed the Gnocchi Bolognese. It consisted of gnocchi in a sauce made of tomato, cream, and slow simmered beef.
Mimmie was not a fan of the Fork, Knife, and Spoon Grilled Cheese. The sandwich came swimming in a bowl of tomato soup which made for a very soggy sandwich. She said that the soup did not really have a good taste by itself either. We don’t recommend this.
Kids’ Menu
Grilled Cheese with Fries Banana Fruit Slush
The kids’ menu features the usual kid-friendly park food such as chicken fingers, pizza, and burgers. It also has unique kids’ items such as beef medallions and penne with cream sauce. Morgan enjoyed her grilled cheese sandwich with fries, and she especially liked her banana fruit slush.
Final Thoughts
Our family is split on this review. As far as atmosphere we rank it high. Family friendly… yes pretty much. Food quality and taste is where we are in disagreement. We all agree that the Spanakopita Dip was the best thing we ate here. I enjoyed my gnocchi entrée, but Mimmie’s sandwich was less than par. Morgan was too distracted for us to really tell how much she actually ate and liked the food, but she now says it was good.
Would we recommend eating here? Yes, everyone should try it out for themselves at least once.
Would we eat here again? Probably not unless we go in for appetizers at lunch. I would like to try the Mezze Platter that has hummus, Kalamata Olives, and pita.
