1. Build a Snowman

Kick off the challenge with a classic! Bundle up and head outside to roll the biggest snowballs you can. Let your kids’ imaginations run wild by adding unique accessories like sunglasses, hats, or even a superhero cape. Bonus points if they create a snow family or pets!

We found this cute holiday outdoor snowman making kit on Amazon.

2. Have a Snowball Fight

Divide into teams or create a free-for-all snowball battle. Set up mini forts for protection, or establish “safe zones” for younger kids. This is a great way to burn off energy while having a blast. Just remember to keep it friendly and avoid aiming for faces!

3. Go Sledding

Find the nearest hill and let the adventure begin. Whether you use a traditional sled, an inner tube, or even a makeshift sled like a plastic bin lid, zooming down a snowy slope is pure joy. Try out our favorite sleds here.

4. Make Snow Angels

Sometimes the simplest activities are the most fun. Challenge your kids to make the biggest, most intricate snow angels they can. Don’t forget to snap a photo of their snowy masterpieces!

5. Create Snow Art

Grab spray bottles, fill them with water and food coloring, and let your kids transform your yard into a snowy canvas. They can draw pictures, write their names, or make colorful patterns.

6. Bake Winter Treats

Once everyone’s cheeks are rosy and their fingers are frozen, head indoors to warm up. Bake cookies, cupcakes, or brownies, and let your kids decorate them with wintry designs. Pair the treats with hot cocoa loaded with marshmallows for a cozy reward.

If you have ever enjoyed Snickerdoodle Hot Chocolate while staying at Cabana Bay during Christmas here is a DIY recipe for a copycat you can make at home. Serve it up in your favorite color-changing mug for a special treat.

7. Host an Indoor Picnic

Spread a blanket on the living room floor, pack sandwiches and snacks, and pretend you’re enjoying a meal in a snowy forest. Add to the fun by putting on a favorite winter-themed movie or telling stories about past snow days.

8. Build a Blanket Fort

Challenge your kids to create the coziest, most imaginative fort possible. Use chairs, pillows, and blankets to make a magical hideaway, then snuggle up inside with books, flashlights, or even a board game.

9. Go on a Winter Scavenger Hunt

Make a list of snow-related treasures, such as icicles, pinecones, animal tracks, or snow-covered leaves. Head outside for a frosty adventure to see who can check off the most items on the list.

10. Have a Family Game Day

End the day with some indoor fun! Dust off board games, play card games, or create a custom snow-themed bingo or trivia game. The laughter and bonding time will make this snow day one to remember.

We just got the Guess in 10 Disney Edition and it is so much fun! Another of our favorites is the classic board game Clue.

Take the Snow Day Challenge!

Encourage your kids to check off as many activities as they can from the list. Maybe even create a small prize for completing all 10! A snow day doesn’t have to mean a day of screen time or boredom—it’s a chance to make lifelong memories with your family.

Remember, life’s short… enjoy the snow and take the challenge!
