21 State Parks in 2021- Part 19

HIking at Woolly Hollow

Woolly Hollow State Park is a nice quiet typical state park settled just north of Conway, AR.  This park is an easy one to spend a day or enjoy for a short weekend trip.  Outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, and boating are available.

#19 Woolly Hollow State Park

Lake Bennett

Lake Bennet at Woolly Hollow

The park has a nice swim beach available, for a fee, in the summer months.  Near the swim beach there is a cute little snack bar and tables available for taking and enjoying the fun.  Boating and fishing are allowed on the lake.  The marina offers boat rentals, pedal boats, kayak, and canoe rentals.

Camping at Woolly Hollow

Woolly Hollow is a great place for RV campers.  It is a short drive from I-40, just outside of Conway, AR.  The road is smooth and wide enough for RVs to easily drive on to get to the park.  The park is very quiet considering how close to town it actually is.

Near the camping area you can find a nice playground.  It has multiple picnic tables scattered around it, so you can enjoy lunch while watching the kids play.

 Trails at Woolly Hollow

Huckleberry Trail at Woolly Hollow

Three hiking trails and one mountain biking trail make up the trail system at Woolly Hollow State Park.  The Huckleberry Trail loops around the lake and is a scenic trail of woods, wildlife, and a creek.  One of the neat things to see at Woolly Hollow is the cabin.  This is found at the trailhead of the Cabin Trail.  You can read about the history on the marker and check out the well and make a wish.

Fishing at Lake Bennett

Morgan loves throwing rocks in the water.

Near the swim beach and playground lies a fishing dock.  Bring your own poles, bait, and tackle and try to catch a few in the calmer waters of the lake.  You can also rent a flat bottom boat or a kayak from the marina.

Final Thoughts

Having fun at Woolly Hollow

Woolly Hollow is a nice, quiet little park just outside of the busy city.  The park is a great spot for camping, swimming, hiking, and fishing and is easily enjoyable on a day trip or in a weekend.  We are just two parks away from completing the  21 Arkansas State parks in 2021 Challenge .  Do you think we will make it?   Remember… Life’s Short… Take the Trip!
