HOTEL REVIEW OF THE BEST WESTERN FRANKLIN INN

Visiting the Franklin, TN area or travelling through and need a place to stop? There are many hotel choices in the Franklin area, but we recently stayed here for four nights while visiting family.  The Best Western Franklin Inn is in a convenient location right off I-65.  It is 2.8 miles from beautiful downtown Franklin and 4.2 miles from the Historic Carter House.

This Franklin hotel has several amenities including clean hotel rooms, free continental breakfast, swimming pool, and a playground.  The hotel also houses a guest laundry facility, free WIFI, ice machines, and vending machines.  Prices start at around $79/ night depending on the time of year.

CLEAN HOTEL ROOMS

The rooms here are very basic but are clean and well kept.  They have recently been remodeled, but still appear to be dated due to the age of the hotel.   On this trip, the three of us had a two queen bedroom on the first floor within walking distance to the pool, playground, and front lobby.

The room had a microwave and a mini refrigerator that was fairly large, and we were able to walk next door to Publix to stock a few items in it.  The room also had a large, flat screen tv which we enjoyed every night.

hotel bathroom

The bathroom was a basic hotel bathroom with a shower and toilet enclosed and the sink and counter top in the main room area.  Again… nothing to write home about, but it worked and was clean.  We had to ask the front desk for more towels and toilet paper because they are currently on a modified cleaning schedule due to COVID-19.

FREE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST

One of the best ways to save money on a trip is by choosing a hotel with a free breakfast.  This Franklin hotel had just that.  During peak COVID-19 times they had a modified version, but on this trip, it was back to a normal self-service, small buffet.

make your own pancake station

The cold breakfast consists of cereal, mini muffins, yogurt, and boiled eggs.  The hot breakfast items are biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage links, and Morgan’s favorite, the make your own pancake station.

Juice, milk, tea, and coffee are also available during breakfast. Breakfast is served in a small room just outside of the lobby.  We enjoyed eating here every day and visiting with fellow travelers.

OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL

What kid doesn’t like a hotel swimming pool? One of the things Morgan always asks about is the hotel swimming pool.  The Best Western Franklin Inn had a very nice outdoor pool.  The staff keeps it clean and well maintained.

There are several chairs, tables with umbrellas, and lounge chairs available to sit and relax in while the kids swim.  There are steps in for easy access and also a handicap accessible lift.  Towels are available pool side so there is no need to bring your own from your room. Due to the size of the pool, there is no lifeguard on duty. The pool is open until 10:00 PM each day.

FRANKLIN HOTEL PLAYGROUND

One of the selling points for families for this hotel is the playground.  We enjoyed the playground each morning after breakfast.  The equipment is a large piece with slides and things to climb on.  They have a set of swings and also some spring riders.  There are four benches placed around the equipment, so the parents have a nice place to sit and watch their kids.  The playground also has a full-sized picnic table with chairs which is great for enjoying pizza delivery or a picnic.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This hotel is a nice stay if you need an inexpensive, basic hotel.  Many business travelers, truck drivers, and construction crews stay at this hotel because of its location.  The staff was friendly, but they do not allow for early check-in.  The rooms are clean and have the basic necessities for a short stay.  The breakfast is good, the pool and playground are fun.  Would we stay here again? Probably so, but maybe not for such a long period of time.

Best Western currently has a rewards program to earn points towards a free stay.  You can track the points in their app and the points will credit after your stay.  After staying 5 nights the next night is free.
