22 Food Trucks Challenge Year End Review

Our challenge for 2022 was to try out 22 Food Trucks.  We ended up doing about 25, not counting the ones we went back to several times because we liked them so much.  Here are some of our favorites. These are solely our opinions based on the time of travel and what food trucks we experienced. You may agree or disagree with us, but we suggest trying out some of these great food trucks.

Best Overall

Morgan and I totally disagree on this one.  But only because she doesn’t like to eat burgers anywhere.

The Witching Hour in Bentonville, AR is my favorite food truck for many reasons.  #1 the atmosphere surpasses any other truck.  With its life-sized Michael Myers, boiling zombies, Gremlins, and creepy dolls surrounding the condiment table what’s not to love? It’s a horror fan’s dream.

#2 the food.  Who wouldn’t want a “Killer Burger” besides Morgan that is…

Menu items such as The Candyman and The Bio-eggsorcist, and Salem’s Clot are just a few of the delicious burgers you can have here.

#3 the staff.  We always say the staff makes or breaks a business of any kind.  The staff of the Witching Hour are always top notch.  Their friendly personalities and professionalism make this food truck a favorite for sure. Plus, they can cook a good burger.

SASS Catering

Sweet Lassi from SASS Catering

Morgan prefers SASS Catering over any other food truck because of their signature drink the “Sweet Lassi”.  It is a yogurt-based sweet drink that will have you wanting more.

This is the first place we have tried Indian food.  We really enjoy the butter chicken with Naan bread.  The portion is so big it can easily be shared.

Best BBQ Food truck

BBQ Food Truck
Smoky B’s BBQ

The whole family agrees on this.  Smoky B’s BBQ in Van Buren, AR.  Get there early.  They do run out of food.  We recommend trying the smoked bologna sandwich and the brisket.

Best Asian Food Truck

Ivy Rollin’ in Fort Smith, AR takes the vote for best Asian food truck.  As I mentioned above, the staff makes the truck.  Ivy is no exception to this.  She is super friendly and makes some great Thai egg rolls

I also must give a mention to Kimochi Hibachi and Sushi on Wheels in Greenwood, AR.  This hibachi style food truck was really good.  It is one we ate at twice.  You can easily share a meal and they even have sushi if you prefer that instead.

Best Mexican Food Truck

Street Tacos from Tacos Aguascalientes

Who doesn’t love a good taco truck? Tacos Aguascalientes in Fort Smith, AR has the best street tacos around.  We highly recommend the chicken quesadilla with avocado salad too.  You will not be disappointed.

Best Fries

Philly Fries at Spud Doctors

From loaded fries to breakfast fries, to loaded spuds the Spud Doctors in Bentonville, AR truly knows how to doctor up potatoes. Watch their Facebook page to see when they are having their smash browns and other specialty spuds.

Best Dessert

Strawberry Cheesecake Nachos from Sweet Scoops Blender Bar

Who doesn’t love a good, sweet treat? We have two favorites for this.

Sweet Scoops Blender Bar out of Farmington, AR is our first favorite.  They specialize in ice cream treats like bubble wraps, Belgian bites, and their awesome strawberry cheesecake nachos.

A variety of Beaver Tails

Our second favorite sweet treat food truck is Beaver Tails Mobile in Fayetteville, AR.  They serve up “beaver tails” loaded with sweet toppings.  A “beaver tail” is a whole wheat Canadian pastry stretched to look like a beaver tail.  The cinnamon sugar is a favorite, but they also have flavors like strawberry cheesecake, apple pie, and brwownie.

Friendliest Food Truck

We can’t stress it enough how much the staff can make the dining experience that much better.  Therefore, our friendliest food truck goes to Taco Virgo Soul Food Tacos in Rogers, AR.  Here you are treated like family.  The food is excellent too, but the friendliness of the owner truly makes the truck.  She truly wants you to be happy and experience enjoying her food, and she serves it up with a smile every time.

Final Thoughts

We have really enjoyed completing the 22 Food Trucks in 2022 Challenge and hope you will try out some of these food trucks.  These are just a few of our favorites, but there are a whole lot more.  Most of our favorites are in Northwest Arkansas, but we did enjoy some in several states. I guess that goes to show home is where the stomach is.  LOL

downtown Fort Smith Bakery District
The Bakery District in Fort Smith, AR hosts several food trucks
