21 State Parks in 2021- Part 21

Plantation Agriculture Museum is the last stop on our 21 in 2021 Challenge.  Located right up the street from Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park, it is an easy stop for a short daytrip.  The park is comprised of several small sized indoor museums, a working cotton gin, and a covered outside area which houses antique machinery.  Each area of the park helps paint the picture of how cotton and agriculture helped develop this area of the state.

The gift shop at this park is unique in that one of the park interpreters makes various gifts from the cotton grown at the park.  Christmas ornaments, wreaths, and other decorations are available for purchase inside.  This makes for a one-of-a-kind souvenir to take home that is only available at this state park.

Final Thoughts

A visit to the Plantation Agriculture Museum is a great way to see how people lived on plantations and how agriculture impacted the economy and growth of this area of Arkansas.  It is fun way for kids to look into the past and have hands on learning experiences.  Morgan’s favorite part of our visit was using a hand pump to pump water in the museum.  She also enjoyed feeling of the cotton that was on display.

We made it!
